Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as OdumoduBlvck, has credited Wizkid and Davido for playing a role in his rise to stardom.

Speaking on the Afrobeat Podcast hosted by Adesope on Tuesday, February 4, he reflected on his journey in the music industry, highlighting how their support helped propel his career.

According to OdumoduBlvck, Wizkid was the first major artiste in Nigeria to promote his music, sharing his songs Picanto and Declan Rice on social media.

He also acknowledged Davido’s influence, revealing that the Awuke crooner helped him early in his career when he didn’t have to.

Wizkid was the first big star to post my song in Nigeria. He shared Picanto… Then, after I released Declan Rice, he posted it as well, and there’s even a video of him vibing to the track,” he said.

On Davido’s impact, he stated: "David is someone who helped me when he didn’t need to. So there’s no way I will say anything bad about him even if I have the chance to."

OdumoduBlvck speaks on his influence in the music industry

During the podcast, OdumoduBlvck reflected on the growth of the Nigerian hip-hop scene, boldly asserting his influence in shaping the industry.

"Four years ago, Olamide was considered the best hip-hop artiste in Nigeria. But the landscape changed when I arrived, " he claimed.

He emphasised the importance of credibility in music, stressing that any rapper who claims to be the best must have a solid album to back it up.

OdumoduBlvck addresses friendship with Rema, Seyi Tinubu, Burna Boy

Beyond music, OdumoduBlvck also spoke about his relationships with fellow artistes. He described Rema as one of his closest friends in the industry and addressed his bond with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

"Rema is my friend. Seyi Tinubu is also my friend. Regardless of his father being the president and people throwing stones at him, he's my friend," he stated.

He also shared an interesting encounter with Burna Boy, revealing that he had a dream about him before they met. In the dream, they were eating pounded yam together.

"I had a dream before meeting Burna Boy where we were enjoying pounded yam together. Burna Boy told me that the day I saw him was the first time he had eaten pounded yam in two years," he said, describing Burna Boy as his “spirit animal.”

OdumoduBlvck speaks on faith, spirituality

Despite criticism, OdumoduBlvck reaffirmed his deep Christian faith, stating that he does not speak about Jesus for clout but out of genuine belief.

They think I just cap. They think I talk about Jesus because I’m a fanatic. I’m a big fan of Jesus. Anything I say, I bind here on earth and in heaven, as long as it aligns with the will of God,” he declared.

Addressing speculations that he was disappointed about not being featured on Wizkid’s latest album, Morayo, OdumoduBlvck dismissed the claims. He stated that it would be absurd to be upset over not appearing on another artiste’s project, especially someone who has contributed to his career.

Since breaking into the mainstream in 2023, OdumoduBlvck has become one of Nigeria's most consistent hitmakers, releasing a string of successful songs that have solidified his position in the music industry.
