Afrobeats sensation Tems recently achieved a victory at the 67th Grammy Awards, marking a significant milestone in her career.
In six years since her debut in 2019, into the Nigerian music scene, the 29-year-old singer has consistently captured both acclaim and admiration on a global scale.
Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, following her debut rose to prominence in 2020 after featuring on Wizkid's Essence track.
A remix version of the song was later released featuring Tems and Justin Bieber, which earned her first-ever Grammy nomination.

- NAACP Image Awards — 2022, 2023, 2024
Afrobeats singer Tems has won the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Awards four times. The award is presented annually to honour outstanding performances in film, television, music, theatre and literature since 1967.
In 2024, Tems won The Outstanding International Song category at the 55th edition of the NAACP Award with her hit Me & U. She won the same category in 2023 with No Woman, No Cry. For 2022, the Afrobeats singer won two categories Outstanding International Song and Best Music Video with the song, Essence.
Meanwhile, she was recently nominated again for the 56th edition of the award. She was nominated for Outstanding International Song with her Grammy-winning track, Love Me Jeje.
- BET Awards — 2022, 2023, 2024
The singer had also shined at the BET Awards consistently four times. In 2024, she won Gospel/Inspirational Artist for Me & U. She received another award in 2023 for Best Collaboration on Drake’s song Wait For U.
2022 saw Tems emerge with two awards from BET. She was recognised as Best International Act and also won Best Collaboration with her feature on Wizkid’s Essence.

The Nigerian-based music award event, The Headies recognised Tems music journey especially in 2022. The year saw the singer win awards in five categories including Best Female Artiste, Best Collaboration, Best R&B Single, Song of The Year and Best R&B Album.
- Grammy Awards — 2022, 2025
Tems is now a 2 times winner of the prestigious Grammy Awards. In 2022, she won Best Melodic Rap Performance for her feature on Drake’s Wait For U.
Following a competition lineup of nominees for the Best African Music Performance including Davido, Wizkid and Burna, Tems recently emerged winner of the category. She won the 2025 edition with her song Love Me Jeje.
