The Grammys, which is said to be considered as the most prestigious awards, honours popular singers including behind the scene talents. 

The 67th Grammys nominations list for the Best African Music Performance saw Nigerian artistes make waves with their unique sounds in 2025. 

Also, the Best Global Music Album listed Rema and Tems for their album projects HEIS and Born in the Wild—a notable feat for Nigeria. 

Following Tems’ recent Grammy Award, which makes her the most awarded Nigerian artiste, TheRadar spotlighted five Nigerian artistes with the most Grammy nominations and their respective wins. 

5 most Grammy nominated Nigerian artistes 

  • Burna Boy — 11 nominations (1 win) 

Afrobeats singer Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy is one singer that has consecutively secured 11 Grammy nominations across different categories. 

However, the singer has only won one award. In 2021, he won the Best Global Music Album with his project Twice as Tall. He remains the only Nigerian that has won the category.

Tems is the latest Grammy award winner for the Best African Music Performance category with her 2024 song Love Me Jeje. 

The singer had also won a Grammy Award at 65th Grammys with her feature on Drake’s Wait For You. Tems’ wins makes her the most awarded Nigerian Grammy winner with 8 total nominations so far.

Femi Kuti, the son of Afro legend Fela Kuti, has been nominated six times for his music across various categories. However, the singer since his nominations has not secured a win.

Afrobeats singer Wizkid is another most nominated singer at the Grammys. The singer’s music career has witnessed a total of five Grammy nominations and one win.

10 Nigerian albums submitted for 2025 Grammy’s Best Global Music Album nomination

TheRadar earlier reported that the Grammy Awards' Best Global Music Album category remains one of the most competitive, and Nigerian artistes made their official album submissions ahead of the 67th annual awards. 

Their submissions are aimed at securing nominations after the first round of voting, which will be announced on November 8, 2024. 

The final round of voting for the awards will run from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025, while the main award ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 2, 2025.
