Following the highly anticipated and recently announced nominations list for the 2025 annual Grammys Awards, Nigerian artistes Wizkid, Tems, Yemi Alade, Asake, Lojay, Bloody Civillian, Davido, Burna Boy, and Rema have secured nominations.
As first time nominees, Yemi Alade, Lojay and Asake were nominated for the Best African music performance with their songs Tomorrow, Sensational and MMS respectively. Rema, on the other hand, was nominated for the first time in the Best Global music album category with his album HEIS.
Tems secured 3 nominations in the Best African Music Performance, Best R&B Song and Best Global Music Album with her song Love Me Jeje, Burning and Born in the Wild debut album. This made her the most nominated Nigerian artiste for this year’s nomination.
Surprisingly, Ayra Starr despite her submission was missing on the nomination list. From Davido, to Burna Boy and others, their nominations signified a consistent push for Afrobeats’ recognition globally.
Meanwhile, American singer Beyonce leads the pack of nominations with 11 nods as Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX follow suit.
The final round of voting for the awards will run from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025, while the main award ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 2, 2025.

10 Nigerian albums submitted for 2025 Grammy’s Best Global Music Album nomination
TheRadar earlier reported that The Best Global Music Album category of the Grammy Awards remains one of the most competitive, and Nigerian artistes made their official album submissions ahead of the 67th annual awards.
Their submissions are aimed at securing nominations after the first round of voting, which will be announced on November 8, 2024.
The final round of voting for the awards will run from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025, while the main award ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 2, 2025.
