- Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa, who recently gave birth to a baby boy in the US, clapped back at a critic who inquired about her baby's father
- Amusa's statement sparked speculation that she was shading her colleague, Opeyemi Aiyeola
- Netizens speculated fellow actress Opeyemi Ayeola was the anonymous critic, but she later cleared the air, denying any involvement
Popular Nollywood Yoruba actress Dayo Amusa has responded to nosy critics who demanded her child's paternity. Amusa recently welcomed her first child, Oluwafirewamiri, on the 18th of November in the United States.
The news of her newborn baby generated some speculation about the baby’s paternity and attracted congratulatory messages from fans and well-wishers.
Amusa addressed the anonymous critic on her live video session on TikTok about the latter's concern for her child's father.
She stated: “To you asking about my child's father, is your husband missing? Or was there a census conducted revealing the husband's loss?
These people are so unbecoming. Did they conduct a census for husbands, and when asked, “Where’s your husband?” they said, “He’s inside a cooler in my room,” which is why you’re looking for the father of my child? Because I honestly don’t understand.
“A child is not some fruit or an apple that drops from heaven eh. It’s the union of inspiration that births another.
“Don’t stress yourself about it, do you understand? It’s not necessary or compulsory to congratulate me. If it’s not convenient for you, don't worry because I am not bothered, it is not of my concern—This stage that I am at is a happy place.
“I am a happy person. I don't know anything else besides congratulations and you will definitely find me seated there.
“Don't worry, since I am the one in the theatrical world, focus on me, I didn't bring my husband into my career in theatre. So what is the problem?”
The actress explained that she kept her child's father unknown for her own peace of mind and sanity.
Amusa's colleague, Opeyemi Aiyeola, clears the air on allegations
Following this statement, many speculated that Amusa might have been throwing shades at her fellow colleague Opeyemi Aiyeola with her statement. Owing to the fact the veteran actress, during a live session, advised women who have conceived through IVF or surrogacy to openly share their stories without downplaying the role of medical assistance.
Aiyeola, during her live video session, stated she wasn't addressing the issues because she avoids controversies. However, she is doing it for the sake of Oluwafirewamiri, Amusa's son. She further talked about how she and Dayo have been colleagues for many years, and they both understand how bloggers can be when it comes to getting traffic to their blogs.
She said: “To all the negative unethical blogs, Opeyemi Aiyeola is not a controversial person, and I will never be. Let me tell you sincerely, if I have to direct any of my videos to anybody eh, am a ‘fearer’ of no man.
“Those who know me, know me well. The controversy flying around that I made a video directed to Dayo that she should come and tell us or tell the whole world how she had her baby.
Are you for real? And to think that people actually believed that I, Opeyemi will say that, and people believed is the painful part.
“Majority of bloggers will do anything to bring traffic to their page. I am not a brainless and heartless human being.”
