Nigerian Afrobeats acts Asake, Ayra Starr and Tems, amongst others have been nominated in different spots for the upcoming 2025 MOBO Awards.
The trio, Asake, Ayra Starr and Tems secured nominations for the competitive Best International Act category alongside International giants like Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj.
For the Best African Music Act, the trio also secured nominations including Rema, Shallipopi, Odumodiblvck, BNXN and Ruger.
Via the official report of Euro News, on Wednesday, December 4, the names of nominees for the 2025 27th edition of the MOBO Awards was announced.
According to the report, the annual MOBO Awards, which celebrates black music and culture, features nominations in various categories to acknowledge the impact of both emerging and established artistes.
Central Cee, Jorja Smith, Cleo Sol and Ghetts are said to lead the pack of the 2025 nomination list after securing three nominations each.
The prestigious award ceremony, which started in 1996, is set to hold its 27th edition on February 18, 2025 at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena for the first time.

2025 Grammys: Nigerian Afrobeats artistes Yemi Alade, Tems, Rema, others secure nominations
Earlier, TheRadar reported that following the highly anticipated nominations list for the 2025 annual Grammys Awards, Nigerian artistes Wizkid, Tems, Yemi Alade, Asake, Davido, Burna Boy, and Rema secured nominations.
As first time nominees, Yemi Alade and Asake were nominated for the Best African music performance with their songs Tomorrow and MMS respectively. Rema, on the other hand, was nominated for the first time in the Best Global music album category with his album HEIS.
Tems secured nominations in the Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Album with her song Love Me Jeje and Born in the Wild debut.
