“Free my son,” 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, pleads amid engagement to Natasha Osawaru

Rose Idibia, mother of renowned Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has made an emotional appeal, urging Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru to free her son from what she claims is a diabolic influence.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Mrs Idibia called on Nigerians, particularly mothers, to intervene as her son navigates a difficult period, including divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Annie Idibia.

In the video, she expressed her concerns for her son's mental well-being, stating, “Good evening, Nigerians. My name is Mrs. Rose Idibia, the mother of 2Face. This message is for Miss Natasha Osawaru of Edo State. I’m calling on all mothers in Nigeria to help me beg her to free my son,” 

Mrs Idibia emphasised the distress her son is experiencing, adding “My son is going through a divorce process, and he is clearly not in his right senses now. I know my son well. That is not him. Please, Natasha, the beads you put on his hand and neck, remove them and free him.” 

The controversy began in January 2025 when 2Baba announced his separation from Annie Idibia, following over 12 years of marriage. 

Speculation about his involvement with Osawaru intensified after they were seen together at the Edo State Assembly and later at a Lagos nightclub.

The rumours reached new heights when a viral video showed 2Baba proposing to Osawaru. The clip, which captured the two dancing before he presented her with a ring, sparked widespread reactions, with fans and critics weighing in on the implications of his new relationship.

While some supporters celebrated the moment, others questioned the timing, given 2Baba’s ongoing divorce. 

With 2Baba's mother's plea, fans are left to ponder what the future holds for 2Baba in both his career and his quest for personal happiness.
