With Nigerian artistes like Asake, Davido, Wizkid and others, selling out on international stages is a medium expanding the reach of Afrobeats. 

Afrobeats as a hotbed of musical talent, has seen Nigerian artistes soar to global acclaim and among this is the conquest of one of the world’s most iconic venues, the O2 Arena in London.

The O2 Arena, also known as The O2, is a large entertainment complex. Located southeast of London on the Greenwich Peninsula. The venue is known for holding a diverse range of events like concerts, sports events, comedic acts, and exhibitions. 

With its 20,000 capacity, it is tagged one of the world's busiest and biggest indoor arenas. In a recent feat, Asake sold out the arena for the second time during his ‘Lungu Boy’ concert over the weekend. TheRadar curated a list of Nigerian artistes who have successfully sold out the O2 Arena in London. 

5 Nigerian artistes who sold out 02 Arena

  • Wizkid - 3 times 

With most sold-out shows at the iconic O2 Arena Wizkid proves his remarkable status in the Afrobeats industry. Selling out shows in 2018, 2019 and 2021 with his Made in Lagos Tour. Wizkid played an instrumental role in paving the way for other Nigerian artistes. 

  • Davido - 2 times 

Davido shut down the O2 Arena for the first time in 2019 while his second was in 2022 during his Timeless album tour. He featured guest appearances from Adekunle Gold, and Patoranking amongst others. 

  • Asake - 2 times 

Asake’s first was in 2023 with his ‘Work of Art’ album, selling out the iconic O2 Arena. In his most recent feat, Asake took his Lungu Boy tour to the venue and for the second time, he shut down the arena to receive a plaque on September 22, 2024. 

  • Rema - 1 time

In 2023, Rema wrote his name into the books with his sold-out performance at the O2 Arena. The 24-year-old became the youngest Nigerian artiste to sell out the venue. His concert featured appearances from Ayra Starr, Crayon, and Kcee.

  • Burna Boy - 1 time 

Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy achieved his one-time sold-out show at the O2 arena in 2021. The self-acclaimed African Giant had his Space Drift Arena Tour in the venue.

No doubt, Afrobeats is growing at a rapid pace and with its consistent growth, Nigerian artistes keep setting themselves apart in the game. 

Nigerian Afrobeats artistes have continued to take on new challenges, whether it is music shows or stage performances. It is one thing to hold a concert or music show and a great deal to sell out tickets.
