- An allegation was previously made about Desmond Elliot suggesting he was gay
- In a recent interview, the Nollywood actor-politician debunked the allegations
- He further noted that the claim was aimed at pushing a negative narrative
Popular Nollywood actor turned politician Desmond Elliot has finally set the record by addressing the gay allegations levelled against him.
Controversial allegations recently surfaced online from a popular social media blog, which included a scathing list of male celebrities alleged to be gay, with Desmond Elliott among them.
Reacting to the claims in an interview with Television Continental (TVC) on Friday, November 8, Desmond Elliot debunked the allegations.
Desmond noted the allegations are only made up to push negativity which shouldn't be the focus. Instead, he emphasised the importance of pushing for positive change.
According to him, it was baseless trying to deny allegations that are not true. He called for tolerance among Nigerians and respecting one another..
“Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it does not increase or reduce my life? Secondly, it is an opinion that is being conceived and for me to come out and say its true or not true. I don't think it is necessary as long as I am affecting people positively, I'm good.
I already made a statement four years ago that negativity is too much. Let's cut down. I'm not saying if you see something wrong you can’t talk about it but let’s also push a lot of positive things out there.
If you feel you identity as something as long as it is within the law people don't have to accept it. Do you, okay. So, let me say it right here. I am straight. You can never have anybody more straighter than me.” he said.
