Team Oshoala, led by Nigerian football star Asisat Oshoala, has won the inaugural Crash Games World Cup (CGWC), with a Nigeria-based player emerging as the competition's first-ever individual champion.

The three-week tournament, organised by Sporty Group, attracted millions of players across Africa and Mexico, with Nigerian participants recording the highest level of participation.

A Nigeria-based player topped the individual leaderboard to become the first Crash Games World Champion, earning $5,000 in cash and a specially designed championship ring valued at $1,500.

Interestingly, the individual champion competed for Team Diomande, which finished sixth in the team standings.

Team Oshoala claimed the overall title, followed by Team Khaled, led by American music producer DJ Khaled, in second place. Team Burna, led by Nigerian singer Burna Boy, finished third.

The teams led by former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy and Springbok winger Cheslin Kolbe finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Team Diomande occupied sixth position.

Nigerians dominate Crash Games World Cup leaderboard

Nigeria emerged as the strongest market at the inaugural Crash Games World Cup, recording more participants than any other country.

Nigerian players also dominated the individual rankings, securing 79 of the top 100 positions on the leaderboard.

Burna Boy emerged as the most popular ambassador among participants, with Team Burna attracting more registrations than the other five teams.

The strong Nigerian showing highlighted the country's significant participation in the 21-day gaming competition, which brought together players from different countries to compete for individual and team prizes.

How the Crash Games World Cup worked

The Crash Games World Cup featured six ambassador-led teams, with participants required to select a team before competing across SportyBet's Crash Games portfolio.

The available games included Sporty Kick, Rugby Blitz, Jungle Run and LaLiga Kick.

Over the 21-day competition, players accumulated experience points (XP) through qualifying cashouts. These points determined their positions on the individual leaderboard and contributed to their respective teams' overall standings.

The top 5,000 participants shared nearly $100,000 in prizes, including cash rewards, ambassador-signed merchandise and Free Bets.

The individual champion also received a custom-made championship ring valued at $1,500. The design was modelled after the championship rings awarded to winners of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

"We came into this competition to win, and that's exactly what Team Oshoala did. The support has been incredible, especially from Nigeria. This victory belongs to all of us," she said.
