The Premier League’s top six clubs faced a dramatic weekend, with shocking upsets, title-race twists, and hard-fought battles. From Manchester City’s unexpected defeat to Liverpool’s impressive comeback over Southampton, here are the key takeaways from an eventful round of fixtures.

How the top 6 EPL clubs performed

Here's a summary of how the top 6 teams performed:

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Manchester City

Manchester City’s hopes of securing Champions League football took another hit as they fell to a shock 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Pep Guardiola’s side dominated possession but struggled to break down a resilient Forest defence.

Despite controlling the first half, City failed to capitalise on their chances, with Erling Haaland and Nico Gonzalez unable to beat goalkeeper Matz Sels. Guardiola’s frustration grew as his side lacked creativity in the final third.

The decisive moment came in the 82nd minute when Callum Hudson-Odoi squeezed a shot past Ederson, securing a crucial win for Forest. City had a late chance through Mateo Kovacic, but their struggles in front of goal continued.

This defeat marked City's ninth of the league campaign, equalling their worst record under Guardiola. It was also the fifth time they failed to score, their worst tally since 2016-17.

Liverpool 3-1 Southampton

Liverpool inched closer to the Premier League title with a 3-1 comeback victory over Southampton at Anfield, extending their lead at the top to 16 points.

Despite a sluggish start following their grueling midweek win over PSG, the Reds found a way to secure all three points.

Southampton had briefly stunned the home crowd when Will Smallbone capitalised on a defensive mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson to fire the Saints ahead.

However, Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s triple half-time substitution changed the game. Darwin Núñez, who narrowly avoided being replaced, levelled from a Luis Díaz assist before winning a penalty that Mohamed Salah confidently converted.

The Egyptian sealed the win with another spot-kick after VAR penalised Yukinari Sugawara for handball.

Liverpool fans erupted into chants of title glory, as Southampton remained rooted to the bottom, facing the threat of an all-time low points total.

Tottenham 2-2 Bournemouth

Tottenham fought back from two goals down to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in an intense Premier League clash.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou handed starts to Dominic Solanke and Cristian Romero for the first time since early January, while Micky van de Ven made his return to the squad as a substitute.

However, the game started poorly for the hosts, as Bournemouth struck first through Marcus Tavernier after a swift counter-attack.

Evanilson doubled the visitors’ lead after halftime, leaving Tottenham staring at defeat. But just two minutes later, fortune favoured Spurs when Pape Sarr’s cross sailed into the far corner.

The comeback was completed late on when Son Heung-min converted a penalty after being fouled by Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The draw left Spurs in 13th place, but they now turn their focus to overturning a 1-0 deficit against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.

Chelsea 1-0 Leicester City

Chelsea edged past Leicester City with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, reclaiming their spot in the Premier League’s top four.

Marc Cucurella emerged as the hero, netting a stunning left-footed strike from 25 yards in the 60th minute. The goal, his fifth of the season and second in successive league matches, was enough to separate the sides.

The Blues had a frustrating first half, with Leicester’s Mads Hermansen saving Cole Palmer’s penalty after Jadon Sancho was fouled in the box. The miss ended Palmer’s perfect record from the spot.

Chelsea’s win moved them above Manchester City, while Leicester remained second from bottom, six points from safety.

Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal

Arsenal struggled for a point at Old Trafford as Declan Rice’s thunderous strike secured a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Despite dominating the first half, the Gunners struggled to break down United’s defence and were punished just before halftime when Bruno Fernandes curled a stunning 25-yard free-kick past a poorly positioned David Raya.

Raya redeemed himself in the second half with crucial saves from Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee, keeping Arsenal in the game.

With 16 minutes left, United failed to clear their lines, allowing Rice to unleash a superb volley over Andre Onana.

The draw, however, did little to aid Arsenal’s title ambitions, as Liverpool remained 15 points clear at the top.

In the dying seconds, Raya produced a miraculous double save to deny Fernandes, ensuring Arsenal left Manchester with at least a point.
