Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo remained optimistic about Ola Aina’s contract situation, assuring fans that discussions over a new deal were progressing well.

With Aina’s current contract set to expire at the end of the season, Forest has been working hard to secure his future amidst growing interest from other clubs.

Since arriving on a free transfer from Torino in 2023, Aina has become an essential part of Nuno’s squad. His defensive composure, versatility, and ability to contribute offensively had made him a key figure in Forest’s campaign.

The Nigerian international had featured regularly in the Premier League, earning praise for his performances against top clubs.

Forest had already activated a one-year extension on Aina’s contract in May 2024, keeping him at the City Ground until the end of the 2024–25 season. However, with his contract nearing its conclusion, the club sought to tie him down to a long-term deal to ward off potential suitors.

Nuno addressed the situation in an interview on Thursday, February 14, expressing confidence in a positive resolution,

“I think there will be good news. Things are going well. I am positive and confident everything is going to be solved,” he stated.

Aina’s influence in the squad had been evident since he joined the tricky trees. On November 5, 2023, he scored his first goal for Forest in a crucial 2–0 victory over Aston Villa at the City Ground. He continued his fine form into the following campaign, netting his first Premier League goal of the 2024–25 season in a dominant 3–0 win over West Ham on November 2, a result that saw Forest climb to third in the league standings.

Since rejoining the Premier League, Aina had showcased arguably the best form of his career. Having struggled for consistent playing time at Chelsea, where he spent 12 years rising through the academy and winning two UEFA Youth League titles, the full-back moved to Torino in 2019 to seek more opportunities. His time in Italy helped refine his game before he returned to England with Forest.

With 24 Premier League appearances and two goals this season, Aina had proven to be one of Forest’s most reliable players. His ability to play as a full-back or wing-back on either flank made him a valuable asset in Nuno’s system.

“I’m just happy I got one today,” Nigeria’s Aina elated after helping Forest beat Brentford

Previously, TheRadar reported that Nigerian defender Ola Aina shone once again as his early strike set Nottingham Forest on course for a stunning 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday, December 21.

The win marked Forest’s third consecutive victory, pushing them momentarily to fourth place in the Premier League table, just two points below Arsenal.
