The Lagos State government has announced plans to initiate a trial concerning the death of popular rapper and songwriter Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as MohBad, nearly one year after his passing.
This development was revealed by Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), during a press briefing on Monday, October 21.
Pedro reiterates getting justice for Mohdad
The briefing took place ahead of a strategic stakeholders’ meeting and a commemoration marking Pedro's first year in office, held at the ministry’s conference room in Alausa, Ikeja.
Pedro said in part, “On Mohbad’s case, I agree there has been a delay and the delay is borne out of time taken for investigation.
“As for Mohbad’s case, as far as we are concerned, justice would be done,” Pedro added.
Attorney-General confirms receipt of US reports, autopsy status
The State Attorney-General disclosed that the reports from the United States have been received, with the autopsy now being handled by the Lagos State pathologist as well as the coroner magistrate.
Pedro further said, “The delay is now with the family of Mohbad who has indicated that they would like to conduct their independent autopsy but despite this, the trial will soon commence and the court will do justice in the matter.”
Details about the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death remain a focal point of public interest as the trial approaches.
