Suspected bandits have reportedly abducted Major General Mahrazu Tsiga (retired), the former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), along with several residents of Tsiga village in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
A resident, speaking with Channels Television on Thursday, February 6, confirmed that the abduction occurred on Wednesday, February 5 night.
The attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the residence of Major General Tsiga before taking him and other villagers hostage.
Although the Katsina State Government and the police have yet to release an official statement on the incident, eyewitnesses have confirmed that the former NYSC DG was among those abducted during the attack.
Sources further revealed that the attack, which lasted only a few minutes, left two residents injured.
Additionally, one of the gunmen was accidentally shot and killed by his own colleagues during the chaos.
The situation remains tense as the authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
