Following the circulation of a viral video on social media, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reacted to accusations made by a woman against airport officials, alleging molestation and bribery.
Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection (DPA&CP) of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), issued a statement on Monday, October 7, labelling the situation as blackmail, emphasising that there was no molestation by FAAN officials and no requests for bribes made by staff during the incident.

The statement read in part, “Contrary to initial reports, the individual involved was not a passenger but a cargo agent conducting illegal operations at the Airport.
The video showed an unknown woman shouting and alleging that an airport official attempted to physically assault her and requested a bribe concerning cargo fees.
Airport authority responds to viral video
Orah further explained that the woman in question declined to pay the required cargo charges and acted inappropriately, damaging their equipment and causing an unnecessary commotion.
“FAAN remains committed to providing clear guidance on our policies and procedures. We advise the public to adhere to the rules guiding airport operations to avoid similar incidents in the future. By working together, we can ensure a safe and efficient airport experience for all.”
Addressing the public, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Kiyamo took to his Instagram page to thank the public for their vigilance. “I have made enquiries from officials of the FAAN thanks for your external vigilance,” Kiyamo stated.
