  • Dele Momodu condemned the APC for attacking its biggest brand, former President Buhari, calling the actions under Tinubu “careless” and self-destructive
  • He expressed disbelief over the conflict between President Tinubu and Buhari, questioning how the party could attack its own former leader
  • Momodu’s comments came after a series of high-profile visits to Buhari’s Kaduna residence, including from Atiku Abubakar and APC leaders

A former presidential candidate and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under President Bola Tinubu, describing its recent actions as “careless” and self-destructive.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, April 14, evening, Momodu expressed disbelief over the Tinubu administration’s apparent attacks on former President Muhammadu Buhari, whom he described as the party’s “biggest brand.”

“I believe the APC under Tinubu has been quite careless. How does a political party wake up and start attacking their biggest brand, Buhari? How does a president wake up and start attacking his immediate predecessor from the same political party?” Momodu questioned.

His remarks come amid a flurry of high-profile visits to Buhari’s residence in Kaduna.

Last Friday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar led a delegation of political leaders including former governors Nasir el-Rufai and Aminu Tambuwal, as well as former Minister Isa Pantami to meet with the former president.

Later that same day, the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, led members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to pay a visit to Buhari at the same location.

We remain strong, defectors will return, PDP forum predicts

Meanwhile, TheRadar reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Forum of Former Speakers has forecasted the return of several politicians who left the party in recent years to join other political platforms.

The forum reiterated that the PDP remains the most widely accepted, well-organised, and best-positioned party to tackle Nigeria's challenges.
