Atiku Abubakar tops list of most followed Nigerian politicians on X (Twitter)

Former President Buhari and his vice are among the most followed Nigerian politicians on X (formerly Twitter).

The top 2023 presidential aspirants, Tinubu, Obi and Abubakar, are among the most followed politicians on X (formerly Twitter)
  • Atiku tops the list of most followed Nigerian politicians on Twitter with 5.1 million followers
  • Peter Obi, Muhammad Buhari, and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo made it to the top 10 on the list, among others 
  • Tinubu has 2.4m followers, making him the 8th most followed on the top 25 list

Politicians now rely heavily on social media to swiftly and effectively communicate their ideas, policies, and campaign messaging to a large audience. 

Nigerian politicians are not left out in these vibrant spaces, making the most out of it for political discussion and engagement.

Atiku emerged as the most followed Nigerian politician on Twitter (X) with 5.1 million followers. Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, is the second most followed politician in Nigeria with 4.6 million followers. 

Former president, Buhari emerged as the third most-followed Nigerian politician with 4.5 million followers while former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is Nigeria’s fourth most-followed politician with 4.3 million followers.

The politicians that made it to the top 10 on the list are Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Muhammad Buhari, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Dino Meleye, Shehu Sani, Bukola Saraki, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Goodluck Jonathan and El-Rufai with 2.2 million followers.

Tinubu's administration reacts to New York Times report on Nigeria's economy

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the report done by the New York Times publication, which analysed Nigeria's dire socio-economic conditions, provoked Tinubu's government but impressed the citizens.

According to the report, Nigerians were experiencing the worst economic crisis in decades, with prices of food, medicine, and petrol too high for many to afford, and the government making it difficult for businesses operate.
