- A recent video of a primary school teacher physically assaulting a 3-year-old has caught the attention of Nigerians
- The incident, which occurred in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, left many raging about the effect of the assault on the child
- Netizens have called on authorities to intervene in the matter
Nigerians have expressed their disappointment and rage over a viral video that captured a school teacher assaulting a 3-year-old in the Ikorodu axis of Lagos.
The primary school teacher, identified as Stella Nwadigo, was captured in the video asking the pupil to write figure ‘61’. Severally, she hit the boy on the head for not complying.
The assault went on intermittently, for every time, the boy failed to write the figures the way she asked him to.
On Wednesday, January 8, a netizen named Oyindamola shared a viral video questioning the teacher's maltreatment of the pupil via an X (formerly Twitter) post.
“Footage from Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, a teacher named Stella Nwadigo was witnessed mistreating and physically abusing a 3-year-old boy, Abayomi Micheal. The footage has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of our little ones in school,” he wrote.
In another post, Oyindamola shared the conversation between Stella Nwadigo and a woman who called her about the assault.
The recorded WhatsApp conversation captured the woman raining curses on Stella for assaulting the boy and also threatening jail term.

@RaphaelOladime4 said, “The hitting was too hard for a 3 year old. But it's funny how people are pretending like they didn't get such treatments or worse from their teachers and/or parents while at his age, reacting surprised like it's a strange thing,”
@TadyJerry said, “This is not good. Children like this need patience and grace from their teachers. This little boy doesn't deserve this treatment, he's too small for this. Teachers should be tested and evaluated before they're allowed to teach but in Nigeria, any jobless person can become a teacher not necessarily having the quality to become one. The foundation is very important. We have work to do as a people,”
@AbbieTrends asked, “Why is the boy not crying? this is wickedness,”
@unsxxxn_ said, “It shows the boy is used to such treatment.. Ofc that’s not the first time the teacher is doing that to him,”
@ree_rehanat said, “You are telling a child of 3 years to write 6 like this "what happens to write a big curve and another small curve" tell a child to write one what happens to " write a down stroke ". That woman needs to be arrested those slaps were literally affecting me,”
@iamthepreence said, “If this is your mum and you are here reading this, just forget you have a mum. This one is going away for some years, we can't decide. But o ti lor,”
