  • Reno Omokri called out Peter Obi for not releasing a statement on the threat to the lives of Yoruba and Edo people by an Igbo woman in Canada
  • He said the former presidential candidate would have released a lengthy statement if it were to be someone from the North or South-West
  • Nigerians react, and call out Igbo leaders for being silent over the matter

Former presidential aide and political activist, Reno Omokri has called out the former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Peter Obi for keeping mum over the threat to the lives of Yoruba and Edo people in Canada by one Amaka Patience Sunnberger.

Omokri, who is known for his controversial stance on matters, made a post on his X account @remoomokri pointing out that the former Anambra State governor is silent on the matter because the threat is not coming from the North or the South-West.

He posted: “If someone from the North or Southwest called for the mass poisoning of Igbo people, Peter Obi would have released a lengthy statement in two seconds. But forty-eight hours after Amaka Patience Sunnberger made the threat to mass poison people of Yoruba and Edo origin,

“Peter Obi has characteristically chopped and clean mouth. If it happens in Igboland, Peter Obi will chop and clean mouth. But if it occurs in the North and Southwest, he will get a megaphone and dance naked in the streets. Nigerians, am I lying?”

Recall that Sunnberger was identified by the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission as the woman on a TikTok Live video who threatened to poison Yoruba and Benin people in Canada and encouraged others to do the same.

He also called out other Nigerian dignitaries like the former minister of foreign minerals, Oby Ezekwesili in another post on X.

Nigerians react to Reno Omokri’s post

Some netizens think it is concerning that no Igbo leader has spoken to condemn the actions of the woman. While some Nigerians supported Omokri and tagged Peter Obi to respond and lend his opinion on the matter, others insulted Omokri calling him a clout chaser and petty.

Here are some of the comments:

@bummiearo posted: “Once again, Peter Obi is in love with what they do. Why should he complain? When Yorubas or Benin people respond now, he will rush to Arise TV to cry. Trying to use it to score political point.”

@tamiz00 posted: “@renoomokri is becoming too petty. I personally think he's bigger than alot of these things. Must you pick on @PeterObi?  What exactly do you have against him?”

@YakubTijani2 posted: “It is really sad. I can’t believe that non of the Igbo leaders said anything about the disgusting video. It shows that many of them are in support of what is happening.”

@olamijuwon1007 posted: “You are not lying. That is how Peter Obi, Oby Ezekwesili and all their apologists behave. It's typical of them.”

@SOTesleem posted: “You keep screaming Peter Obi's name and he keeps ignoring you. Uncle Reno, rest!”

@yungchief88 posted: “Reno always seeking relevance. When Atiku deleted a tweet when Deborah was burnt in the North and he claimed one of his boys was behind the tweet which was condemning the killing of Deborah. Atiku deleted the tweet cos he received backlash from his Muslim brothers. @renoomokri  can you point out or drop link of any epistle you wrote to condemn what Atiku did?”

@Oluwatosin3414 posted: “The man is not worthy to be call a leader ... He can't even lead a country like Nigeria... Now I see why one of his Kingman said he is too weak to lead.. Anyone fooling behind him should just have a rethink because that can never be president with this Character including @atiku”

Peter Obi threatens legal action against Tinubu’s aide Onanuga over alleged defamation

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, threatened to sue the Special Adviser to the President on Communications and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, for defamation while demanding N5 billion in damages.

It all started when Bayo Onanuga claimed that Peter Obi should be held responsible for the planned nationwide protest in a post on X.
