Delta State Nursing College withdraws query against student over viral video
  • Delta State College of Nursing Sciences withdrew query against student Edobor over video of First Lady's visit
  • This comes after the Delta State Commissioner for Health Joseph Onojaeme directed the college to rescind action against Edobor
  • Netizen have expressed their opinion on this controversy

The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences has issued a letter of apology to Osato Edobor, a student who was initially called in for sanction over posting a viral video.

The video, which was taken during a live streaming event, was deemed confidential information by the school authorities.

The college had initially accused Edobor of "malicious act" for capturing the footage, which showed nursing students rejecting Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady's title as "everyone's mother" during a welcome song.

This incident was followed by widespread criticism from netizens, activists, and public figures, including Omoyele Sowore and Mr. Macaroni.

The Delta State Commissioner for Health Joseph Onojaeme directed the school to rescind its action, prompting the institution's provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, to sign a letter confirming the withdrawal of the query on Friday, March 28.

The student, however, is no longer at risk of expulsion, as the school has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The letter read,

The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme in his magnanimity has directed the school authority to withdraw the query issued to you on the 27th March, 2025.
“You are therefore to return the query letter through the student affairs officer to the office of the provost.
“The school authority regrets any inconveniences this must have caused the state.”

Netizens have expressed mixed reactions to the school's apology, with some praising the institution for taking responsibility, while others have criticised the school for not upholding its standards by letting the student face consequences for her actions.
