Nigerian actor Mr Macaroni has criticised Senator Ben Murray-Bruce for alleged hypocrisy after the politician publicly endorsed Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
On Wednesday, March 26, Murray-Bruce took to social media to praise Akpabio, calling him a leader of “unimpeachable good character” and expressing his unwavering support for him amid ongoing controversies.
“I know Senator Godswill Akpabio personally and intimately. He is a man of unimpeachable good character, and both the South-South and Nigeria are fortunate to have him at the helm of affairs at the National Assembly at this delicate stage in our national growth.”
He further defended Akpabio, vowing to protect Nigeria’s image:
“I will not stand idly by while some persons try, both home and abroad, to destroy an institution I was once proudly a part of.
“I am a Nigerian, who is proud of Nigeria, and will give my all to protect and project my country to the world. I give him my right hand of fellowship and stand firmly with him.”
However, this post did not sit well with Mr Macaroni, who seized the opportunity to call Murray-Bruce out for being hypocritical, citing a 2018 post in which Murray-Bruce had criticized Akpabio for attempting to break the law.
On Friday, March 28, the actor took to his official X account posting,
“Nigerian Politicians only care for themselves alone! It’s never about the people!! Only about their pockets. Your hypocrisy is smelling, sir!”
In a subsequent post, he further quoted the former senator's post that slammed Godswill Akpabio for his inordinate political activities.
Mr Macaroni sarcastically hailed Murray-Bruce as “Mr Common Sense 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾.”
Many other individuals have reacted to this post, calling out Murray-Bruce for being selfish and inconsistent.
