Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has addressed comments made by her colleague, Eniola Badmus, regarding her hair loss.
Apparently, Aiyeola had posted a video on her page, which got the attention of Eniola Badmus, who commented, “Ope where is your front hair?”
In a video shared on Friday, April 11, Aiyeola expressed her disappointment, stating that she was disappointed that the previously plus-sized actress would say something of sort to her considering the fact that she was once an object of ridicule.
She began expressing her appreciation for the support and concern shown by her fans and family. However, she declined their offers to help her find hair products, emphasising that she is happy and beautiful just the way she is.
“Hi everyone, it's your girl Opeyemi Aiyeola. Before I go into today's ranting, let me adjust my hair. First of all, I'd like to appreciate the beautiful people that came to my dms concerning my beautiful hair. “Thank you for the recommendation of remedies and products for my hair loss. However, I'd decline.
“Thank you, but I don't need it, because I am beautifully and wonderfully made, and I am surrounded by people who love me the way I am,” Aiyeola said.
She went further in addressing the situation stating,
“This live stream is for Eniola Badmus, I have decided not to pay attention to wailing wailers, which is just my thing to not pay attention to ignorant evil people.
“I understand the way social media is, I understand that there are a lot of people who are animals in human form, but I have only decided to reply to Eniola Badmus for her comment on one of my videos, with a lot of ignorant people like herself.
“Eniola, it should not have been you, because you used to be an image of ridicule and body shaming. To now think that you who have experienced the pain of body shaming, now came into my video to drop such a comment, when you rarely promote anything that has to do with me, rarely comment or like my videos, rarely interact with me, to drop this comment, you are an animal.
“I know there are evil people but I wasn't expecting that from someone of your calibre who has experienced pains to say that.”
She questioned, “What exactly is funny? What exactly is that statement for? You are beautiful? You think a woman's physical appearance is all that counts?
“You have successfully expressed who you really are and what you stand for, and I pity the people who have you around as friends.”
The video has sparked a mixed reaction from netizens, with some defending Badmus and characterising her comment as an innocent joke. Others have criticised Badmus for being insensitive and making a comment that could be hurtful to someone who has experienced hair loss.
