Nigerian Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has secured three big wins at the 2025 Trace Awards and Summit. 

The recognition comes weeks after the singer got the most nominations for the 17th edition of the Headies Awards. 

In an X (formerly Twitter) post on Thursday, February 27, Rema was announced the winner of three award categories at the 2025 Trace Awards. 

The 24-year-old singer won the categories; Album of The Year, Best Male Artist and Best Music Video ( for his DND song directed by Meji Alabi). 

For Album of the Year, Rema defeated Burna Boy’s I Told Them, Asake’s Lungu Boy amongst others to win the category with his 2024 HEIS album. 

On the other hand, Nigerian singer Ayra Starr won the award for Best Artist (Western Africa Anglophone) at the Trace Awards 2025. 

Other notable Nigerian winners at the award include Mercy Chinwo, P.Prime and D’banj who won the Lifetime Achievement Award. 

The Trace Awards is an annual award that recognises African singers. Its 2025 edition recently took place on Wednesday, February 26, at the Mora Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

2025 Grammys: Tems defeats Burna Boy, Asake, Davido to win Best African Music Performance 

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported Afrobeats star Tems’ historic win at the 67th Academy Grammy Awards ceremony in February. 

The Nigerian singer born Temilade Openiyi, defeated her colleagues Burna Boy, Wizkid and Asake, to win the Best African Music Performance category.
