  • Wizkid FC shut down critics with evidence that the concert was sold out

The loyalty and dedication of Wizkid FC, the fan club of Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Wizkid, have once again proved to be strong following recent allegations that the singer's career is on the decline in a podcast with On-air personality Adesope Olajide.

The Afrobeats singer, who rose to prominence in 2011 and has since broken records and received numerous awards, has been rumoured to be experiencing a downward trend in his career and is no longer in high demand for events and endorsement deals.

In recent times, a video podcast ‘Fresh Off The BOAT’ with Adesope Olajide, popularly known as Shopsydoo, sparked outrage among Wizkid FC when a guest on the podcast claimed that Wizkid's show at Tottenham Stadium in 2023 failed to sell out. This prompted a fierce backlash from Wizkid FC.

During the episode, the guest claimed that Wizkid failed to sell out his 2023 show at the 62,850-capacity Tottenham Stadium, contradicting earlier reports. She further asserted that this disappointment would prevent Wizkid from booking similar large-scale venues.

In their discussion, she stated: “I want to say with all due respect to everybody. We set out artistes for failure if we keep doing like this. For example, Wiz did not sell out Tottenham Stadium right? He did not. He has not been able to come back and do a venue of the same capacity because he did not sell out. Right or wrong?”

What sparked outrage among Wizkid FC members was Adesope's response to the guest's statement. Instead of defending Wizkid, Adesope seemingly validated the claim by saying, "You work with Live Nation.”

This perceived betrayal has led to widespread criticism, with many labelling the podcast an "Association of Haters" and demanding accountability from Adesope, who is now tagged “Adesoapy.”

Wizkid FC also accused him of sensationalising the story to boost his podcast's traffic. Some fans believe the comments were unfair and unwarranted, while others argue that he simply stated facts following a recent clash with Nelson Epega in October 2024.

The controversy began on October 2, 2024, when talent manager Nelson Epega called out Wizkid for not releasing any hit songs in the past four years.

Epega claimed Wizkid had not had a hit in four years and was inferior to younger artistes like Ayra Starr, Tems, and Rema. Wizkid responded, asserting his superiority and revealing that he had turned down a deal with Puma due to payment issues. This statement sparked concerns about Wizkid's career trajectory and raised questions about his relevance in the music industry.

Meanwhile, Wizkid FC has released evidence proving that the singer's recent concert was, in fact, sold out. Armed with proof, Wizkid FC shared a series of images and event organisers' posts.

The evidence verified that all tickets for the concert were sold, conclusively establishing the event's sold-out status.

The action addresses questions previously raised about the validity of the sold-out claim.

Wizkid FC rallied behind their idol

Despite the controversy, Wizkid FC remains steadfast in supporting the singer. They argue that Wizkid's legacy and contributions to the music industry cannot be diminished by recent setbacks and dragged Olajide for his involvement.

Davido has the number one song in Nigeria. He also claimed that David is cheap, but he shared the stage twice with David this December and David closed the shows twice.
