Nigerian controversial singer Speed Darlington has finally regained freedom after meeting his bail term of N20 million.

Speed Darlington, who was arrested in November 2024, had been granted N20 million bail by a High Court sitting in Abuja. He was also to provide one surety of the same amount.

The court demanded that the surety required for his bail must be a Level 10 civil servant, a resident of Abuja, and either a staff member of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Speed Darlington was initially rearrested over defamation and cyberstalking allegations against his colleague Burna Boy.

In an Instagram post, on Tuesday, January 21, Speed Darlington’s lawyer Stan Alieke, announced that his client has met the bail conditions for his immediate release.

With an accompanying picture that captured the singer in his office, Stan extended gratitude to everyone who contributed to Speed Darlington’s release.

He also promised to ensure that the fight for Speed Darlington’s fundamental human rights continues as it was deprived by the Nigerian police.
