Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has announced his departure from his previous record label, Dapper Music.
The Elon Musk crooner has been with Dapper Music since 2021 and has spent approximately four years with the label.
Via his official Instagram page on Wednesday, December 11, the 24-year-old singer through a statement shared the news with his fans.
The statement revealed why he is parting ways with Dapper Music and described his step as one of the hardest decisions.
“My dear fans, I come to you with a heavy heart but unshakable determination. I'm Crown Uzama, your Shallipopi, and I have made one of the toughest decisions of my career.
“Today, I'm officially ending my agreements with Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital. This wasn't a choice I made lightly but it is a step I had to take after my trust was broken, my finances mismanaged and my right as an artist disregarded,” the statement partly read.
Shallipopi also highlighted how his decision is a move to also stand up for other artists in his shoes, who put all their work into their careers and end up being exploited.
He further listed three major reasons why he left Dapper Music, which include a Lack of transparency, a conflict of interest, and an Unfair forever deal.

TheRadar earlier reported that Nigerian singer Korede Bello opened up about how he lost touch with himself as an artiste and felt like a product.
Korede, best known for his hit song "Godwin," was signed to Mavin Records, owned by Afrobeats producer Don Jazzy, in 2014. He exited the record label in 2021.
