The lingering rivalry between Afrobeats stars Ayodeji Balogun, known as Wizkid, and David Adekele, known as Davido, has resumed with Wizkid involved in a fiery exchange on social media.
The social media war was said to have erupted after Davido previewed a snippet of his upcoming first single for 2024 on Tuesday, October 1.
Davido’s single preview had generated mixed reactions on social media from both fans of the artistes making comparisons between them.
Coincidentally, Wizkid earlier previewed the song Piece of Mind, off his most anticipated album, Morayo, which was scheduled to drop on the same day.
In an X (formerly Twitter) post, on Tuesday, October 1, Wizkid made a tweet saying, “Pussy boys dropping mids again! I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent!”
The tweet was an alleged response to Davido’s associate, Kayode Yanaur after he (Kayode) seemingly mocked Wizkid over the delay in releasing his album. “Tell your Daddy to drop na,” Kayode wrote.
In a series of tweets, Wizkid, who first tweeted mentioning Davido, continued to drag his colleague’s musical prowess and his personal affairs.
In one, Wizkid said, “When u see people wey dem papa and family train u go know! U don’t see my uncle dancing online!” In another, he tweeted, “E no go better for davido and him feelings!”
Meanwhile, this latest clash between the Afrobeats heavyweights comes on the heels of a similar exchange in May, where Wizkid mocked Davido and Mavins Record boss, Don Jazzy.

Wizkid’s continuous tweets about Davido sparked controversy on social media with many surprised because the duo had earlier linked up at time signaling an end to their beef.
Through all the drama on social media, Davido is yet to make a direct response or comment to Wizkid’s tweets about him (Davido).
Ignoring the controversy, Davido shared the snippet of his newly released music video of Joy, on Wednesday, October 2, a collaborative single he worked on with Angelique Kidjo.
In another tweet, Davido announced the unveiling of his new collection in partnership with Puma in New York City. “Touchdown NYC !! Excited about tonight @puma X Davido New collection Unveiling!” he wrote.
