Crossing over from one industry to another in Nigerian entertainment is inevitable - whether a miss or a hit. 

Away from film sets, some notable Nigerian actresses have explored interpreting roles in popular Nigerian music videos, some as video vixens and some as themselves in their acting elements. 

Most recently, popular Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye was featured in Young John’s upcoming video, Stronger. The emotional and tribute-inspired work in reference to Young John’s mother heightened expectations for fans. 

Following this, TheRadar compiled a list of 10 Nollywood actresses who have been featured in popular Nigerian music videos.

  • Bimbo Ademoye in Young John’s ‘Stronger’

The latest actress in the block featured in a music video is Bimbo Ademoye. The actress appeared in the trailer for Young John’s song ‘Stronger’. The song, particularly dedicated to Young Jonn’s late mom, saw Bimbo in character as his mother with a young boy, who acted a younger version of Young John. The most emotional part of the video is the cliffhanger leaving the audience with the question of whether or not Bimbo was hit by an oncoming vehicle after she screamed. 

  • Funke Akindele in Wizkid’s ‘Pakurumo’

Off his debut album, SuperStar, Wizkid dropped one of his best songs, Pakurumo. He featured a line of celebrities from Lynxx to Skales, Mo’cheddah and Funke Akindele. When he started singing, “Funke Pakurumo, pakurumo ko jo Dada,” which translated to bend down and dance well. Funke Akindele appeared in the video, dancing with excitement. Meanwhile, it made sense to see her in the video because of her name. 

  • Adesua Etomi in Banky W’s ‘Everything’ 

Nigerian power couple Banky W and Adesua Etomi always find a reason to show off their love. If they are not acting together in a movie, they are showing single people ‘shege’ with their affection in music videos. In Banky W’s Everything, Adesua plays Banky W’s lover he serenades only that unlike others we see as acting, this was real. 

  • Beverly Osu in Ice Prince’s ‘Oleku’ 

In 2010, Beverly Osu appeared in Ice Prince’s Oleku music video. The hit song was the rave of the era that captivated fans. Featuring Brymo as well, the song is a classic that still bangs for music lovers. Spotted in a blue dress, Beverly Osu played a video vixen. 

  • Yvonne Jegede in Djinee’s ‘Ego’

Djinee’s Ego is surely one unforgettable and timeless heartbreak anthem in Nigeria. Serving Nigerians his RnB hit, it starred popular actress Yvonne Jegede as Ego, who walked away when he needed her the most.
