Following his discovery of Nigerian singer, Chidodozie Ugochinyere, Fave, Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed that he has always been a fan of her music.
Davido, during an exclusive interview posted by 49th Street, on July 14, appreciated Fave’s unique style of music and recounted that he was the one who reached out to her for Kante off his Timeless album.
“Fave, I'm the one who even wrote to her because I was always a fan. I liked her music, do you understand, especially what she did on Olamide’s album then. I was like; “Who is this girl?” So, I always wanted to work with her.” he said.
“So, I sent her a DM when I was on vacation. I was like yo, I want us to work and she was like this is the message she has been waiting for since. So, we linked up in the studio. She sent me a couple of ideas to pick from. I was like no. I asked her where is your best best one that you turned down. Go inside, inside,”
According to Davido, Fave asked for a couple of weeks and after that, she came up with something he was ready to jump on.
“She said I should give her a couple of weeks and let her work on something. She went and she brought out that record. I said send it to me with the space. Trust me, I went to do my own thing and we linked up at our studio. I played her the verse and boom, that was it.” the “Unavailable” crooner further narrated.
Discovering Fave on Olamide’s Album
Nigerian singer, Fave worked with Olamide for the first time in 2021 on his “UY SCUTI” album. This saw her featured on two tracks exploring her unique voice.
Everyone like Davido had wondered and admired her unique voice and that gave her the right amount of exposure she needed.
In 2023, Davido finally featured Fave to make his hit song “Kante'', which is the 10th track off his Timeless album. Meanwhile, she has gone on to work with several artistes in the industry since then.
