Sharing her excitement to witness another birthday, she took to her X account (formerly Twitter) on July 12 to celebrate herself.

She wrote, “Another year around the sun. Happy birthday Reedee!” 

Her fans, friends and colleagues including film and literary platforms showered praises on Dominic’s outstanding performances which spurred nostalgia bliss. 

To celebrate the Nollywood screen diva, TheRadar highlights her significant growth and acting career in Nollywood, a journey that has been on since 1998. 

After making her debut with A Time to Kill, the Imo-born actress’ growth skyrocketed at a significant pace in the industry. Over the years, she has appeared in numerous award-winning movie titles. 

Analysing Rita Dominic’s notable acting career

Dominic started her foray into acting as a child, and she appeared in school plays and children's television shows in Imo State. 

This passion secured her debut in 1998, and that was when she came into the limelight. Appearing in titles like Children of Terror (1998), Aba Riot (1999), The Intruder (1999), and Iyore (2015), amongst many other films, to establish her versatility. 

In the course of her career, she has not only acted but also produced several films, some of which include The Therapist, Light in the Dark, Bound, Desecration, and The Blindspot.

In 2004, she was nominated for the City People’s Award. She clinched the award to win the Outstanding Actress category. 

Her notable produced movie The Meeting was nominated for several awards. The rom-com film tells a story about a boy struggling with poverty. He decides to sell crafts he makes from shells to make a living. Along the line, he meets an old, conceited artist who changes his life. 

Appearing as a lead actress in the same film, she won the Best Actress in a Lead Role 2013 Nollywood Movies award and the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards for the same category. At the Eloy Awards, she emerged as Female Producer of the Year for producing The Meeting.

Her film also won “Best Movie Comedy” at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2015 and “Best Film” at the Nollywood Week Paris Film Festival in 2014.
