- Music star Davido shares that his newborn son with wife Chioma strongly resembles their late son, Ifeanyi
- The singer calls the similarity "scary" and says the family is grateful for the blessing
- Davido also and Chioma welcomed twins in the U.S. in 2023, a year after losing Ifeanyi in a tragic drowning incident
Award-winning Nigerian musician David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about the emotional experience of welcoming a new son who bears a striking resemblance to his late child, Ifeanyi.
In a recent interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, Davido shared his surprise at how much his newborn son with wife Chioma looks like their first son, Ifeanyi, who tragically passed away in 2022.
Davido said during the sit-down conversation. “That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out’. I am just going to chill, take care of my wife and take care of the family and get my head right. To come back from that and…to be blessed with twins out the gate; a boy and a girl.
“And, the boy looks just like my son (Ifeanyi) that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, “No, it’s him. He came back” type stuff. It feels like we were given another chance,” he added.
The couple, who had been grieving the loss of Ifeanyi, welcomed a set of twins in the United States in 2023. Davido described the moment as surreal and deeply emotional, noting that the experience was a testament to divine grace.
Davido and Chioma lost their three-year-old son in a tragic drowning accident at their Lagos home in October 2022. The incident sparked widespread sympathy and mourning across the country.
Reflecting on the healing process, Davido noted how supportive his partner Chioma has been and acknowledged how tough the journey has been for both of them. He emphasized the role of faith and family in helping them navigate the painful chapter.
Despite the heartbreak, Davido said he believes in finding meaning in tragedy. "I'm a living example that it is possible to smile again," he said.
Asked about working with American singer, Chris Brown, and what’s next for them, Davido stated that they had made about 20 songs together.
On if they would release a joint album, the Nigerian singer said, “We could put out two albums right now. It is going to happen. I am happy for Chris. I feel like he is back in his bag. He is celebrating his 20-year anniversary. I told him I was meant to go on this tour (Breezy Bowl, 20-year anniversary tour).”
Confirming that he was getting involved in the film industry, Davido said,
“I am an executive producer on a movie and a series with my director, Dammy Twitch. (We are) also working on my documentary.”
“I’m done with cheating,” Davido commits to monogamy
In an earlier report by TheRadar, Davido opened up about his personal life, healing journey and renewed commitment to his marriage.
In an interview, the self-acclaimed 001 of Afrobeats declared that he was done with cheating and was fully embracing monogamy.
