Veteran Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has opened up about her ongoing health challenges, shedding light on her struggles.
Her revelation comes on the heels of ‘people’, who she claimed thought she was lying about her health challenges.
In a long video on her official Instagram page, on Tuesday, February 18, Halima, went into details to clarify the rumours and solicited financial assistance.
Meanwhile, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had earlier in 2024 called out the actress for perpetrating scandalous rumours about her colleagues. This led to her indefinite suspension to allow disciplinary actions to take place.
“Hi everyone, how are you all doing? People are confused about what's going on and all that. I'm not feeling fine up till now. I'm just good at being strong and pretending that I'm okay.
This is me but everyday you see me post pictures with filters. That is the filter on TikTok. This is how I look and I don't want to post pictures looking like this and some of you will be laughing. What is funny? Look at me, what other thing do I need to say? Why would somebody say I am lying? Lying about why I am sick?
Yea, I go to hospital. I go to a Turkish hospital, which is one of the biggest in Nigeria. I don't look okay. This is not me. Okay, you sacked me from Nollywood, which is okay. What are all these betrayals? Will I be lying? It is a mad person who lies that they are sick. They said I am not sick. That I was lying.”
Halima Abubakar narrates health challenges
Narrating her health challenges, the Veteran actress noted that the undisclosed sickness made her relocate to the village for a year.
“I was in the village for more than one year. I moved here recently. Because of the hospital and I go for checkups, I am around here. I'm done with the check-up. There is nothing wrong with me medically now.
My own best friend said I'm lying. That I'm acting. How can somebody be acting sick? Do I look like someone who is acting to you? You are just an evil person.” she said.
Halima Abubakar asks for financial assistance
“Do you know how many people I have been begging? I've practically been begging everybody to support me so I can take my medications. What kind of life is that? No work and I'm in this condition.
“Nothing! Like I have not done a movie for more than six years now. What do people want? Do they want me to die? Do you want me to kill myself?”
Halima, via her caption, further asked for financial assistance by sharing her account details and tagging the Kogi State government.
