Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has come forward with an apology to Apostle Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries International over her false allegations.
Earlier, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had called out the actress for perpetrating scandalous rumours about her colleagues and highly placed individuals with blogs. This led to her indefinite suspension to allow disciplinary actions take place.
On falsely accusing Apostle Suleman, Halima for several months in 2022 alleged that the cleric promised to marry her and failed his promise.She also made other controversial allegations against the Apostle, particularly inflicting her with a life-threatening illness she was stuck with.
However, in an Instagram post on Wednesday, October 23, the renowned actress regretted her actions and apologised to Apostle Suleman for all the false allegations she levelled against him.
The signed official letter directed to Apostle Suleman recognised the reputation damages Halima caused to the popular cleric and his family, seeking for forgiveness.
“I am writing to you today to acknowledge the falsehood I made against you on social media and to offer my sincere apologies. After deep reflection, and for my conscience to be in accord with God, I have realized the depth of the harm, distress and pains caused by my lies.
I admit that I made false allegations against you and also regret my actions and the damage I caused to you, your wife Dr. Mrs Lizzy Suleman, your family and the leaders of Omega Fire Ministry. With this letter, I humbly ask for your forgiveness…” the statement read in part.
Meanwhile, Halima’s apology also comes on the heels of a ruling by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in April that fined Halima N10 million as damages for defaming Apostle Suleman.
