Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has opened up on the secrets behind his ability to cry effortlessly in movies.

The actor also discussed the second part of his upcoming Netflix film, Lisabi: A Legend is Born, and what viewers should expect.

In a recent exclusive interview on TV Continental (TVC)’s Breakfast show on Wednesday, January 8, Adedimeji explained how he maintains professionalism in a ‘crying’ role.

The host asked him how he manages to be versatile enough to laugh and cry in films effortlessly.

There are times when you are allowed to think about something but there are times that there are factors around you that could make you do all of these things.

“Sometimes, you may need to just put your attention on a particular thing without blinking your eye for some time and then it comes down. It is just training. It is training all the way,” Adedimeji explained.

The actor, who is producing his first traditional film, expressed what acting was for him in comparison to his religion, which he holds dear.

“I think acting is just like a religion to me. I take it just as I take my religion. It is just you giving your all to God when you’re doing your thing. That’s how I give my all to acting.

“I avoid the fact that I don’t want to be stereotyped, so I can pick on different things at different times even when I don’t need it. I just try to develop,” he added.

Nollywood’s growth over the years

Adedimeji also spoke on the growth of the Nollywood industry, which many describe as evolving. He commended the growth.

According to him, Nollywood is in a phase where it is truly better than it used to produce in the late ‘90s.

It’s been amazing. I’m a fan of saying we are not where we used to be. Nollywood is not just about producing films alone but producing films with quality. It is about producing films the way it ought to be done.

“We are not doing it as Hollywood is doing it but we are as close as we can by paying attention to details by not rushing production but giving it time,” he said.
