Afrobeats sensation Ahmed Ololade, widely recognised as Asake, recently made a notable return to social media.

His return comes after weeks of silence amid speculations about a fallout with his previous record label, YBNL Nation.

The speculations were also linked as a reason for deleted posts, particularly on his Instagram page, and changes made to his bio, which now reads as “Creative Director,”

However, Asake’s recent online activities have caught the attention of fans and sparked conversations among the music community. It also signalled a potential new chapter in his career as an exceptional singer.

Amongst many angles of conversations currently ongoing about the singer, TheRadar spotlighted 5 reasons Asake is trending on social media.

  • New Afro hairstyle

Following recent pictures Asake posted on his page, fans particularly reacted to his new hairstyle —an Afro. The singer in the pictures appeared healthier, with noticeable changes in comparison to his previous looks.

  • New face tattoos

Asake raised questions about his new face tattoos. He had revealed some of these on the cover of his Lungu Boy album, but his recent pictures captured more words and symbols engraved on different parts of his face and neck. Some of the words and symbols include ‘Believe,’ ‘Dollar sign,’ and ‘a crown.’ This look sparked concerns from some fans, while some commended it.

  • 30th birthday anniversary

The singer also turned 30 today, January 13, 2025. In honour of Asake, fans and the music communities alike are celebrating the music star for his impressive style and consistency in Nigerian music.

  • Upcoming 2025 releases

Askse is also trending because he has previewed his first two singles of 2025. The songs are Why Love and Bad Boy. However, there is no announced date for their release but both songs will be out soon. Bad Boy is said to be produced by Magicsticks

Sharing a snippet of himself vibing to the songs, Asake is on the lips of fans and the music community. Many praised his artistry and shared anticipation for the songs.

  • Newly released music video

Asake recently released the music video for Whine, featuring Ludmilla. The song, released from his Lungu Boy album, is one of his notable collaborations on the project.
