Nigerian Afrobeats and singer Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy, might not be the most awarded artiste in the industry, but there are exclusive awards and records that set him apart from his peers.
The 33-year-old artiste, who explores Afrofusion, is known for his vocal texture and code-switching between English and indigenous Nigerian languages.
Burna Boy has sold out music shows and concerts across global stadiums and arenas. Notable among them is the 80,000-capacity London stadium, where he held his ‘Love, Damini’ concert in 2023. He also headlined the 20,000-capacity O2 arena and Paris La Defense arena, which hosted a 40,000-capacity audience.
Since launching into his music career in 2010, Burna Boy has risen to the peak and also cultivated a leading figure in the history of Afrobeats - pushing Afrobeats beyond the shores of Nigeria.
Just as BBC radio presenter Darren Joseph described him as an icon among his generation, TheRadar, in this article, spotlighted five awards exclusively won by Burna Boy as an Afrobeats artiste in the last five years.

Album Review: “HEIS” is Rema’s monotonous outburst for recognition
Earlier, TheRadar reviewed Rema’s album, which was released on July 11. The album HEIS solidified an evolution in the 24-year-old's artistic journey, but it signaled a monotonous outburst to seek recognition.
Considering the title of the album and its meaning, Rema, born Divine Ikubor, made a rather bold declaration of himself as “number one” in the music game - which was quite controversial.
