The 14-track album released on August 25, 2014, under Naive Records, was recorded in the East Sussex area of the United Kingdom.
Asa, in production of Bed of Stone,teamed up with a co-writer and producer, Blair MacKichan notable for working with Sia and Lily Allen.
Bed of Stone, as described by the record label hits ‘right to the heart,’ and follows the familiar folk sound Asa is known for. The sound similarity also is evident in comparison to her previous works— Asa, her debut and Beautiful Imperfection, her sophomore.
Off the album, the track Dead Again was earlier released in May 2014. It was later in the album as the opening track, detailing a bitter love story with a piano ballad rhythm.
