Amid the ongoing GRASS airdrop, Phantom, the biggest wallet on the Solana blockchain, experienced downtime on October 28, 2024, and users have been asked to be patient while it is being fixed.

Some users have complained of issues related to inaccurate account balances for over an hour.

Solana took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to inform users about the “uptime incident”, and advised users who needed to conduct urgent transactions to use decentralised application (dApp).

“We're currently experiencing an uptime incident and some services may be temporarily disrupted,” Solana posted. “If you are in urgent need of making a transaction, please ignore simulation errors and try using a dapp. Thanks for your patience as we work to resolve the issue.”

At press time, users were growing inpatient as it had been over 2 hours since Solana made the post, promising to fix it quickly.

One user replied to the post: “my entire net worth is spread out across like 15 phantom wallets. I'm gonna need y'all to fix this before I have a heart attack.”

Another user replied: “When I'm about to claim my grass. Y’all know what you are doing.”

This hiccup came amid the ongoing airdrop of Grass coin. SolanaFloor claims that a backend issue involving the Grass Airdrop One is the cause of the Phantom Wallet outage.

Though Phantom Wallet has been affected by the airdrop, the Solana network is still operational. When compared to the frequent outages that occurred a few years ago, the SOL blockchain network showed resilience by maintaining 100% uptime, data shared by SolanaFloor showed.

Additionally, SolanaFloor said that considering the quantity of users, the GRASS meme coin has the biggest distribution in Solana's history. In the last few hours, about 2 million users have attempted to trade their GRASS tokens, according to the platform.

Grass is an Artificial Intelligence coin built on the Solana blockchain and launched on October 28, 2024. Grass is a decentralised network that aims to democratise AI development and widely distribute its advantages by rewarding more than 2 million users for assisting AI developers in accessing the internet.

During the Grass Airdrop One, 10% of the total supply, which is 100 million GRASS tokens, will be distributed. Users who have accrued points during the network's initial phase will receive 9% of these, while holders of GigaBuds NFT and those who have installed Desktop Node and Saga Application will receive the remaining 1%.

Unlicensed USDT-Naira trading: How court convicted Nigerian crypto firm Official Gredo Limited

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that a federal high court in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, has convicted an indigenous crypto firm, Official Gredo Limited, for unlicensed USDT-Naira trading.

The court found Official Gredo Limited guilty of illegally conducting transactions in stablecoin USDT and the Nigerian naira without obtaining a valid banking license from Nigerian authorities.

The trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, also ordered the forfeiture of N140 million held in Official Gredo’s bank account to the federal government of Nigeria via the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) recovery account. The order was part of a plea bargain the firm reached with the prosecuting agency, the EFCC.
