Cristiano Ronaldo, one of football’s most celebrated icons, is reportedly being courted by José Mourinho for a newsbreaking reunion at Fenerbahçe.

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Mourinho, who currently manages the Turkish giants, has been in contact with Ronaldo to weigh the possibility of bringing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner back to European football.

Ronaldo’s current contract with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr is set to expire in June 2024. While the 39-year-old forward has yet to agree on an extension, he has given no indication of retiring anytime soon.

Mourinho reportedly reached out to Ronaldo, asking,

“Are you happy there? There is talk that you want to leave. If you leave, would you like to come to Fenerbahçe?”

The former Manchester United boss reportedly maintains a strong relationship with Ronaldo from their time at Real Madrid, where they shared tremendous success. Under Mourinho, Ronaldo netted an astonishing 168 goals and provided 49 assists in just 164 appearances.

Fenerbahçe’s director of football, Mario Branco, is said to have already opened discussions with Ronaldo’s camp, including his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Although the club faces significant hurdles in securing the legendary forward, particularly financial constraints, however, if Ronaldo does not extend his stay with Al-Nassr, Fenerbahçe could begin pre-contract negotiations as early as January 1, ahead of a potential free transfer next summer.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 as a free agent following his controversial departure from Manchester United. During his stint in Saudi Arabia, he has amassed 68 goals and 18 assists in just 79 appearances, proving his incredible form even at 39. His tally this season stands at 10 goals in 15 matches.

Internationally, Ronaldo continues to shine. During the last break, he scored twice in Portugal’s victory over Poland, displaying his ability to perform at the highest level. With ambitions to play in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a return to European football could improve his chances of staying competitive on the global stage.

Ronaldo pushes Al Nassr to sign Man City superstar in potential blockbuster move

Previously, TheRadar reported that Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo had reportedly urged his club to break the bank in pursuit of  Premier League superstar Kevin De Bruyne.

Since leaving Manchester United in 2022 and embarking on his Saudi Pro League journey, Ronaldo has become a force to reckon with for Al Nassr, but he believes one particular addition could change the club’s fortunes.
