  • Ronaldo’s influence in Saudi Arabia continues to grow since his move from Manchester United
  • Premier League star De Bruyne’s current contract with Manchester City expires in 2025
  • Al Nassr could offer the Manchester City player up to £1m per week in wages

Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo, has reportedly urged his club to break the bank in pursuit of Premier League superstar Kevin De Bruyne.

Since leaving Manchester United in 2022 and embarking on his Saudi Pro League journey, Ronaldo has become a force to reckon with for Al Nassr, but he believes one particular addition could change the club’s fortunes.

Currently sitting fourth in the league after three wins and two draws, with Ronaldo himself netting four times, Al Nassr is looking to strengthen the squad further.

According to The Mirror, Ronaldo has “urged” his club to sign De Bruyne, suggesting that the Belgian playmaker could secure a staggering £1 million per week should the deal go through. With De Bruyne’s contract at Manchester City expiring in 2025, Ronaldo is keen for Al Nassr to exploit the timing.

The Portuguese legend sees this as an opportune moment to swoop in, especially considering the Belgian's recent injury struggles.

De Bruyne, who has missed important fixtures against Arsenal and Newcastle this season, has been battling with a persistent hamstring issue, keeping him out of action for long periods, including the last international break.

Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco confirmed that the 32-year-old has asked to skip November’s fixtures as well, including crucial matches against Italy and Israel.

“I had a long phone conversation with Kevin, he has asked to skip this camp and also November, to be able to take care of his body. The schedule has become even busier due to the World Cup for clubs. That is why he is not there now and in November. But when it really counts (the World Cup) he will be there.”

At 32, and with recurring injury concerns, a move to Saudi Arabia could be a lucrative and sensible option for De Bruyne.

Although there hasn’t been any confirmed official interest from Al Nassr yet, the midfielder did leave the door open earlier this year when asked about a potential move to the Middle East. “At my age, you have to be open to everything,” he said, acknowledging that “unbelievable amounts” of money could influence his decisions in the twilight of his career.
