- Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has yet to receive a new contract offer, sparking speculation about his future at Anfield as his current deal expires in 2025
- Agent Rob Jansen criticised Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes, describing him as a "robot with zero empathy" and blaming him for the contract stalemate
- Salah, who has scored 223 goals for Liverpool, expressed disappointment over the lack of urgency and hinted that he feels closer to leaving than staying
Liverpool’s talisman Mohamed Salah remains without a new contract offer, a situation that has made the headlines in recent weeks sparking speculations about his future at Anfield now in a recent report, Agent Rob Jansen has given the public a clue as to what could be happening behind close doors.
Salah, who joined the Reds from Roma in 2017 for a fee of up to £43 million, has proved himself as one of the greatest players in Liverpool's history.
With 223 goals in 367 appearances, the Egyptian winger has won every major trophy available, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
Despite his brilliance, including 12 goals in 18 games this season, Salah’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
However, there has been no indication that Liverpool intends to extend his stay, leaving fans and pundits puzzled.
After inspiring Liverpool to a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Southampton at St Mary’s, Salah addressed the uncertainty surrounding his future. According to TheRadar Sports, the 32-year-old admitted that he feels closer to leaving Anfield than securing an extension,
“We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club. I’m probably more out than in. You know I’ve been here for many years, and there is no club like this. But in the end, it’s not in my hands.”
Salah emphasised his love for Liverpool fans, stating that their relationship remains strong, but admitted disappointment at the lack of clarity. He added,
“I’m not going to retire soon. I’m focusing on this season, trying to win the Premier League and Champions League. But as I said, it’s December, and I haven’t heard anything yet about my future.”
Adding fuel to the speculation, Rob Jansen, a prominent football agent, has offered his theory as to why Salah has yet to receive a new deal.
Speaking on a podcast, Jansen criticized Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes, describing him as a "robot with zero empathy."
Jansen, who previously negotiated with Hughes over a potential move for ex-Everton defender Johnny Heitinga, suggested that Hughes’ lack of emotional intelligence might be a key factor in Salah’s predicament.
“He’s new to the club. And one thing Richard Hughes doesn’t have is any sense of empathy. Zero. He’s a robot. I know that because I negotiated with him for Heitinga, Salah is a player who thrives on emotion and warmth. Hughes’ approach might not resonate with someone from a different cultural background, like Salah.” Jansen claimed.
With Salah’s incredible contributions on the pitch, Liverpool fans are left questioning why the club has not prioritised securing Salah’s future despite his impressive contributions on the pitch.
