Barcelona and PSG emerge as leading contenders to sign Liverpool’s Diaz, while AC Milan is also keen
  • Luis Diaz’s contract renewal talks with Liverpool have reportedly stalled, putting clubs like Barcelona and AC Milan on alert
  • Barcelona and PSG are reportedly ready to offer €80m to secure the Colombian winger's services, with AC Milan also showing interest
  • Diaz remains under contract until 2026, but his current wages are far below what players of his calibre earn at elite clubs

Premier League side Liverpool’s contract situation with Luis Diaz has taken a dramatic turn. Despite being one of the Reds’ standout performers since his £50 million arrival from Porto in January 2022, Diaz is yet to secure a lucrative new deal, leaving his future at Anfield shrouded in uncertainty.

Reports suggest three European heavyweights, including Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG, are ready to make their move, potentially unsettling the Colombian winger as Liverpool weighs their options.

The situation comes amidst an ongoing series of contractual challenges for Liverpool. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah are all in the final year of their contracts, making Diaz’s stalled negotiations particularly concerning for fans. With his deal running until 2026, the 27-year-old has time on his side, but according to reports, talks over a salary increase have reached a halt.

Diaz reportedly earns £55,000 per week, a figure dwarfed by the wages of similarly influential players in Europe’s elite clubs.

While that sum reflects the terms he agreed upon signing three years ago, it has failed to keep pace with his growing importance under Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot.

The winger’s representatives has reportedly argued that his performances merit a pay rise to match the salaries of Liverpool’s top earners, but the club has yet to meet those demands.

Adding fuel to the fire, Barcelona and PSG are reportedly “willing to offer to an €80m package” to lure Diaz away. AC Milan has also entered the fray, with the Serie A giants keen to make Diaz the focal point of their attack.

Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano has offered a different perspective, claiming Liverpool remains determined to keep Diaz long-term. Romano confirmed that sporting director Richard Hughes and manager Arne Slot have reassured Diaz of his importance to the club. Romano also revealed that Liverpool fended off interest in Diaz during the summer when other top European clubs were “prepared to attack the situation.”

While other reports suggest that negotiations have hit a deadlock, Romano hinted that fresh talks could be revisited. Liverpool, under no immediate pressure to sell, have until the summer of 2027 to resolve the situation. Still, the Colombian’s camp appears keen to push the club toward a resolution sooner rather than later.

For now, Diaz continues to deliver on the pitch. Whether Liverpool can match his ambitions or risk losing him to Europe’s giants remains to be seen.

Mohammed Salah saves Reds from Saints in 5-goal thriller

Previously, TheRadar reported that Egypt’s Mohamed Salah once again proved to be Liverpool’s talisman as his brace helped the Reds to a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium. The win shot Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The result keeps Liverpool firmly in control of the Premier League title race, with Salah’s display once again proving his value to the team.
