Liverpool’s Mo Salah’s time at Anfield may be drawing to a close after rumours about a sensational move to the Saudi Pro League (SPL) surfaced.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed to have insider knowledge that the Egyptian star will depart Anfield next summer, making way for a record-breaking deal in Saudi Arabia.

Over the past 12 months, Salah has been linked with a switch to the SPL, with Liverpool reportedly turning down an offer exceeding £100 million last summer. Despite turning down lucrative offers, Liverpool now faces the reality of Salah’s contract entering its final stages, with no extension in sight.

Alongside Salah, the contracts of Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also set to expire at the end of the season, placing the club in a difficult position.

Agbonlahor, speaking on talkSPORT, confidently stated, “I know Salah’s going.” While he didn’t specify a club, he suggested that Salah will become the face of Saudi football, signing a deal surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s record contract.

“I’ve got a source that told me Salah’s definitely going. Saudi, on a record contract, I’m hearing that he will earn more than [Cristiano] Ronaldo, he’ll be the face of the football over there. You can’t turn that down if you’re Mo Salah. He’s done everything at Liverpool, hasn’t he?”

Salah has kept his comments brief regarding his future, but following his standout performance against Manchester United, he offered some insight. Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Salah stated, “You know this is my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it. It’s not up to me, but no one has spoken to me at the club.”

With the club’s silence on new contract talks, Agbonlahor believes it’s inevitable that Salah will move on, stating, “I think he would have signed a new contract by now [if he was staying], and it's an offer he can't turn down.”
