With Mohamed Salah’s contract at Liverpool set to expire next summer, the 32-year-old forward is entering a critical phase in his career. Despite his contract situation, Salah has yet to commit to a new deal, fueling rumours about his future at Anfield.

The Reds rejected a £150 million bid from Al-Ittihad last September, which shows how important  Salah is to the team.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah expressed his interest as he approaches the final year of his contract.

"Before the season, I was just like, 'I've got one year left, let's just enjoy it and don't think about the contract.' I don't want to think about next year or the future, I just want to enjoy the last year [of my contract] and let's see."

Since arriving from Roma for £34 million in 2017, Salah has become a cornerstone of Liverpool’s success, netting 213 goals in 351 appearances.

His contributions have placed him fifth on the club’s all-time goalscorers list. In July 2022, Salah inked a lucrative three-year deal, reportedly making him the highest-paid player in Liverpool’s history with a weekly wage surpassing £350,000.

Under new manager Arne Slot, Salah has shown his adaptability, finding the back of the net in Slot’s first two Premier League matches in charge.

However, with his contract expiration looming and persistent links to the Saudi Pro League, Liverpool faces the challenge of retaining their star player.

Salah’s situation is further complicated by the fact that key teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also nearing the end of their contracts.

Salah is expected to feature in Liverpool’s upcoming clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford. As his contract nears its conclusion, this could be one of the last opportunities to see Salah in action against Liverpool’s historic rivals at the Reds stadium.

The possibility of Salah leaving Liverpool has made several Liverpool fans agitated. While many want the club to secure his future despite him not getting any younger, some others think it might be time for him to move on and get a more lucrative contract like his other colleagues.

His performance on the field is still key, but the uncertainty about his contract might add a bit of tension to Liverpool's season, especially in the locker room. Arne Slot should also be getting ready to answer questions from the press on this topic.

Slot’s Liverpool will struggle this season as custom demands, Gary Neville predicts PL top 4

Previously, TheRadar reported that Gary Neville had wasted no time in revising his predictions for the Premier League season, making significant changes after just one game. The former Manchester United defender, known for his critical analysis, initially backed Tottenham Hotspur to secure a top-four finish.

However, following their opening match, he reconsidered Chelsea’s potential to overtake them.
