A heavy downpour which started in the early hours of Wednesday morning has left many stranded across some states in Southwest Nigeria.

Reports have it that multiple areas in Lagos State have been flooded, ruining millions of properties. The rain also disrupted many people's schedules, and some people even missed work.

However, some Nigerians have decided to make the best of the situation by posting funny emails explaining their absence from work to their job's hiring manager.

The hashtag #Dear HR has been trending on social media after people realised they would have to be absent from work because of the rain.

Some others also made it fun by responding to “emails” as the supposed hiring manager.
