  • JAMB confirmed the 2025 UTME registration deadline will end on March 8, 2025, with no extension, urging candidates to register early
  • Over 1.5 million candidates had registered by the deadline, with JAMB stressing the importance of sticking to the timeline to avoid disruptions
  • The board emphasised that the deadline was essential for the smooth execution of the exam and other related activities, with no further opportunities after March 8

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that the registration period for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will end as scheduled on March 8, 2025, with no possibility of an extension.

In a statement released on Tuesday, February 26, JAMB clarified that the registration deadline, which began on February 3, 2025, is final and will not be extended under any circumstances.

The exam body emphasised that the deadline has been widely communicated through advertisements and the official calendar for the 2025 UTME cycle.

“We wish to inform all prospective candidates that there will be no extension of the registration period, This notice is particularly important given the recent decline in the number of candidates registering for the examination. We urge all individuals who wish to participate to register promptly and avoid waiting until the last minute.” said Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for JAMB.

As of the latest update, over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered for the examination, aligning with JAMB’s projections for this year’s cycle.

The board reiterated the importance of adhering to the set timeline, noting that the registration deadline is fixed and is crucial for ensuring the smooth progression of other scheduled activities, including exams, results management, and subsequent admission exercises.

JAMB also pointed out that the coordination of these timelines with other agencies, whose operations depend on the completion of JAMB’s processes, would be disrupted if the registration period were extended.

“We strongly encourage candidates to complete their registration as soon as possible, as there will be no further opportunity after March 8,” JAMB further said.

With the clock ticking down on the registration period, prospective candidates are urged to act quickly to avoid any last-minute issues.

National Assembly clears JAMB of alleged fund misappropriation

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the National Assembly Joint Committee on Finance absolved the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of allegations of financial mismanagement in its 2024 budget implementation.

Senator Sani Musa, chairman of the committee, made this announcement on Thursday, January 16, following a review of documents submitted by JAMB, which dispelled accusations of reckless expenditure.
