- Aggrieved Nigerians have taken to social media, demanding that Tinubu step down
- The demand is driven by the economic struggles under the President administration
- The anger is further intensified by some of the government expenditures that are viewed as insensitive
Aggrieved Nigerians have taken to social media, asking that the current President of the country, Bola Ahmad Tinubu step down over the current state of the country.
Struggle to meet basic needs
Their demand was driven by the economic struggles faced by Nigerians, emphasizing that families cannot afford to feed themselves adequately under his tenure.
Recall that expectations on the President were high when he resumed office on May 29, 2023, promising to "hit the ground running" and "continue running" under his "Renewed Hope Agenda."
Tinubu's administration’s policies not helping
However, the public has said that the administration’s policies, such as floating the naira and removing the fuel subsidy, are not improving the economy but have further worsened the situation.
Additionally, the cost of living has seen a dramatic increase, alongside a worsening security situation.
Insensitive expenditures
The anger has been intensified by government expenditures that are viewed as insensitive, notably the allocation of N21 billion for renovating the VP's residence during a time of economic hardship, while everyday Nigerians face challenges in meeting necessities.
However, the hashtag #TinubuMustGo has taken over social media, with people across the country lamenting and demanding the president be impeached.
