Senate President Godswill Akpabio had called on Nigerians to prioritise their love for the country above the pursuit of financial gain.

Akpabio warns that Nigeria is losing expertise due to mass immigration

The Senate President expressed that the nation's progress would be enhanced if citizens with various skills choose to remain in the country. 

“The country is losing its expertise. If they acquired those expertise and returned to Nigeria, it would have been better,” he said while commenting on a motion seeking to address mass immigration of Nigerians,” Akpabio stated.

Following this, there has been a wave of reactions from Nigerians. TheRadar compiled the public's responses to the Senate President’s statements below: 

“When you here this our politicians talk you will think they are working hard to make this country better 😥,” Val.I stated.  

“he should be quiet,” Dude commented. 

“He should cut his total compensation by 60% and give up all the unnecessary hoopla that is known as his motorcade and we can just begin to believe his sincerity,” Dr Fabian Onunaku added.

“Where are His own children?” Zoe Adeola stated. 

“Wow! What a statement coming from a man whose entire wealth comes from political office serving the very public he's telling to continue suffering while he and his cronies keeping gaining financially?” Onyi Onyekwere reacted. 

“Akpabio where ur children dey? If 9ja good well well for u bring them back. Where is ur president doing his vacation? E b like say una don dey mad for this country,” CrownFire commented.

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that Senate President Godswill Akpabio said the old “Arise, O Compatriots” anthem caused insecurity and banditry in the country.
