Analysing Wizkid’s 15-year music legacy
Wizkid, who was born in the suburbs of Surelere in 1990, has been in the Nigerian music industry since the days of Holla at your Boy, the lead single from his debut album Superstar (2011).
In 2009, he was signed under Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment, this kicked his foray into the pedestal of the Nigerian music scene.
The 15-year journey has seen him evolve from just an emerging voice in Afrobeats to a top gun who is globally recognized as one of the big names pushing Afrobeats music across the shores of Nigeria.
Considering the popular saying “small but mighty,” it doesn't lose its value when connotatively used to describe Wizkid. Having King Sunny Ade, Bob Marley and Fela as role models, it is obvious how much imprint he is leaving on the sand of time.
His work is credited with popularising and paving the way for other artistes, particularly in terms of international collaboration. A recipient of many global and record breaking awards, most recently, he scooped seven nominations at the Africa Arts Entertainment Awards, set to hold on August 17. Wizkid is definitely who he says he is.

Album Review: “HEIS” is Rema’s monotonous outburst for recognition
Earlier, TheRadar reviewed Rema’s album, which was released on July 11. It solidified an evolution in the 24-year-old's artistic journey, but it signalled a monotonous outburst to seek recognition.
Considering the title of the album and its meaning, Rema, born Divine Ikubor, made a rather bold declaration of himself as “number one” in the music game - which is quite controversial.
