Veteran Nollywood actress Dupe Jaiyesimi has opened up about her painful journey with infertility, revealing a heartbreaking history of miscarriage, betrayal, and disappointment.

In an emotional interview on Biola Adebayo's podcast, Jaiyesimi recounted the devastating moment when she lost her only pregnancy.

She stated

"I was once pregnant, but the scan showed that the baby was growing outside of the womb. After a few weeks, I lost the pregnancy."

A shocking betrayal in her marriage compounded the pain of her miscarriage. Jaiyesimi's husband brought another woman who was already pregnant with his child into their home.

"After I lost the pregnancy, my husband brought another woman home, and she was already expecting his baby. I had no choice but to walk away, and since then, I have remained single."

Despite her deep longing for motherhood, Jaiyesimi's struggles with infertility have been relentless. She underwent two rounds of In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), but both attempts ended in disappointment.

"I attempted IVF twice, but it failed," she said.

The actress revealed that she also considered adoption, but was discouraged by her late mother.

"At a point, I thought of adopting, but my mother warned me not to bring any child I didn't conceive into my life."

Jaiyesimi has been absent from the film industry for over seven years and has been reflecting on her life choices.

"Most men just wanted to have a piece of me, so I decided to stay single. The only thing I know how to do best is acting, but I have not been in movies for over seven years. I haven't produced any either."

Dupe Jaiyesimi opens up about her family betrayal

Dupe Jaiyesimi further opened up about a painful experience involving her family. She shared that after her father's passing, her siblings, who were living abroad at the time, engaged in a bitter dispute with her over their late father's properties.

The conflict escalated to the point where her siblings took her to the police station. This betrayal by her siblings and their children was a difficult experience for her to overcome.

She further shared that during the dispute over their father's properties, it was eventually discovered that she was not at fault. However, by then, the damage had already been done, and her siblings had sold the properties, leaving nothing behind.

She also expressed her hurt and disappointment at being financially supportive of her siblings' children on numerous occasions, only to be met with ingratitude and hostility.

She revealed that her siblings had even gone as far as to question her paternity, calling her a bastard and claiming she didn't belong to their father.

She expressed,

Alhaji's issue isn't even painful because he didn't wrong me not for his wife and I wouldn't blame her as well she is just fighting for her right. These are not as painful as these kids that I raised. Sometimes, I tell myself that I am satisfied with them even if God doesn't give me a child.
“When I celebrated my 60th birthday, they gave me nothing and that pained me the most. If God had given me my own children, my children would have organised the party.
“They would have been the ones to celebrate their mother at 60; they gave me nothing.”

Despite the setbacks, Jaiyesimi remains hopeful, holding onto her faith in the future.

"As long as there is life, there is hope. I still believe I can have my own child."

Jaiyesimi's courage in sharing her story has been met with an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues, who have flooded social media with messages of encouragement and solidarity.
